Tomosynthesis, making the invisible visible.
With the latest Flat Panel Detector and advanced Digital Imaging Technology, Shimadzu realized the world’s first practical use of Tomosynthesis on RF-table systems, the SONIALVISION series. This state-of-the-art imaging technology offers high-quality multi-slice images to visualize the part that was invisible by the conventional plain radiography in a simple and quick workflow and at low exposure dose.

Tomosynthesis Applications in Thoracic Imaging

We are pleased to share the new report from the Tomosynthesis user in Japan. This clinic uses Tomosynthesis for the early diagnosis of lung cancer.

The following is the summary of the report.
Tomosynthesis performs similarly to CT and is superior and more accurate at detecting lesions in the thoracic region compared to digital chest radiography.
Compared to digital chest radiography, Tomosynthesis is less affected by overlapping anatomical structures. 37% more sensitive in detecting pulmonary nodules 10mm or larger.
Tomosynthesis can reduce radiation exposure by around one-tenth to one-third from CT.
A 2.5-second high-speed scan by Tomosynthesis helps to provide a clear chest image, even in elderly patients who have difficulty holding their breath.
